COST ESTIMATOR
THE JOB:
DO Recruitment Advisors are delighted to be assisting our client, a leading European group in the construction sector, in their search for a talented and experienced Cost Estimator.
As a Cost Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in preparing and validating project cost estimates at various stages, facilitating quantitative risk assessments for cost and schedule, and contributing to project execution reviews. You will work closely with the Pre-Construction Director and project management teams to shape projects from their early concept phase, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
This is a dynamic, pan-European position involving mid- to large-scale projects in the Office, Retail, and Hospitality sectors. Some travel to client locations and work sites across Europe will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and quantify costs and activities for all works described in specifications and bills of quantities, factoring in production time, materials, and labour
- Analyse the legal, technical, and financial risks of projects
- Research and propose technical and economic solutions
- Select and manage partnerships with subcontractors and suppliers, liaising with internal technical and purchasing teams
- Evaluate project profitability and viability, making recommendations to the delivery team
- Participate in the preliminary financial planning phase
- Consult with suppliers, organise tenders, and analyse offers
THE CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Surveying, or a business school qualification with specialisation in the construction sector
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Cost Estimator
Strong computer literacy
Fluent in English and French (additional European languages are a plus)
Self-driven, persevering, and performance-oriented
Adaptable to diverse environments, situations, and stakeholders
Skilled team leader with strong collaboration skills
Flexible and able to prioritise effectively under changing conditions
Customer-focused and innovative
Rigorous, organised, and knowledgeable about construction standards and best practices.
