HR GENERALIST

 

THE JOB:

As an HR Generalist, the incumbent will play a key role in aligning people strategy with business objectives. You will build deep and trusting relationships with senior business stakeholders to be seen as a trusted advisor and implement people strategy, feeding back into the HR department on opportunities for improvement and evolving business needs while maintaining a generalist function.

You will also advise and guide managers and leaders to have the full range of conversations with their employees and take appropriate ownership for delivering on business expectations. As an HR Generalist you’ll have to understand the talent profile of the business you’ll support and the workforce management required to be successful in the long term. Additionally, you will be an advocate of the HR operating model and expert in navigating HR process and procedure as well as a guardian of employee experience, responsible for ensuring HR compliance to local legislation, policy and procedure.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular meetings with respective business units.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will partner with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Ensure HRGBS receives all necessary information related to the respective business units (changes in labor law, new HR requirements etc.)
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Gather information and support from Talent Development.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Consult with internal legal/counsel as appropriate on personnel matters.
  • Develop (with TA function) contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.
  • Align with company’s Talent & Reward policy and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Define and manage cost efficiency initiatives in HR-related areas as well as budgets.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Ensure human resources services and programs are in line with management philosophy, address employee needs and meets regulatory and budget constraints.
  • Interact with Local/Int. Dept.’s, members, customers, vendors and with all levels throughout the organization both on local and regional level.
  • Interact with local and international labor authorities as required.
  • Assist management implementing HR initiatives to improve employee working quality, productivity, motivation, relations and retention.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Provide dotted line reporting of office professional Nordics and Germany.

 

THE CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Fluent in English and French, and German is advantageous.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-disciplined and able to work in autonomy on assigned project.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external counterparts with sensitivity to cultural diversity.
  • Creative, able to organize workload and problem solving.
  • Good interpersonal skills requirement.
  • Customer and retail orientation.
  • Well balanced with the ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment.
  • Have good work ethic.

  • Flexibility to travel when required in country and abroad.
  • College or University degree
  • HR Certification preferred.
