THE JOB:
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will oversee the Compliance function within the branch, ensuring that all internal procedures comply with applicable financial laws, regulatory requirements, directives, and internal policies. The role involves designing, implementing, and continuously monitoring an effective compliance framework, with a focus on the prevention and detection of money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), sanctions compliance, and adherence to professional ethics.
Key responsibilities include:
-Developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive compliance framework, including policies, controls, procedures, tools, and staff training.
-Monitoring regulatory developments and ensuring timely adaptation of branch policies and practices.
-Conducting risk assessments and due diligence for counterparties and business activities.
-Overseeing AML/CTF and database screening alerts, reviewing high-risk client files, and ensuring compliance of new operations, products, and services.
-Acting as CRS/FATCA Responsible Officer and AML Officer.
-Preparing and submitting regulatory reports to supervisory authorities and internal stakeholders.
-Interacting with internal and external auditors, supervisory authorities, and professional networks.
-Representing Compliance in branch, group, and external committees, and serving as Secretary for management and supervisory committees.
-Supervising and mentoring compliance team members, defining objectives, evaluating performance, and ensuring fair working conditions.
-Promoting a strong compliance culture through guidance, awareness, and regular training.
-Supporting risk governance, updating compliance risk classifications, and advising management proactively on compliance matters.
-Performing additional tasks as assigned to ensure smooth functioning of the Compliance function.
THE CANDIDATE PROFILE:
-Extensive experience in banking or financial services compliance, with strong knowledge of AML/CTF, sanctions, and regulatory reporting.
-Proven track record in designing, implementing, and monitoring compliance frameworks.
-Experience managing compliance teams and fostering a strong compliance culture.
-Solid understanding of regulatory bodies and requirements, including CRS/FATCA obligations.
-Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with senior management, regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
-Ability to assess risks, identify areas for improvement, and implement practical solutions.
-Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while collaborating across teams.
-Relevant qualifications in law, finance, or compliance (e.g., ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
