SENIOR ASSOCIATE TAX (M/F)
To provide high-quality tax advisory and compliance in respect of investments. The role will be split 50/50 between tax advisory and tax compliance support.
The tax advisory role will focus mainly on European investments providing support minimising the group’s exposure to tax risks whilst maximising the risk adjusted return on the group’s investments.
The tax compliance role will support the management and coordination of global tax compliance responsibilities for the subsidiaries owning investments within the Asset Classes.
THE ROLE:
The Senior Associate will be responsible for:
Tax advisory
- providing comprehensive tax support on a variety of transactional matters related to the Asset Classes
- support on the review of agreements ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, and advising on tax risks and opportunities related to business operations
- in-house advisory and coordination support on cash flows throughout the investment life cycle
- support on transfer pricing elements related to intra-group financing, cash pooling and other transactions
- monitoring tax developments and advising stakeholders in clear and concise terms to ensure compliance
- working on cross departmental projects in collaboration with investment teams and legal division
- support on complex multi-disciplinary transactions and managing external tax counsels efficiently
Tax compliance
- assist with the oversight of external tax advisers to whom the preparation of tax returns have been outsourced to ensure timely filing and payment of all direct and indirect tax obligations worldwide (in particular including US tax obligations which make up the majority of the tax filings)
- work with external advisors and JV partners on a variety of REIT and US real property holding company (USRPHC) compliance matters covering testing, REIT demand letters and continued section 892 compliance
- review tax computations prepared by external service providers and resolve queries as necessary
- work closely with external advisors and tax authorities to resolve tax compliance issues and audits
- develop, document, and implement processes to improve tax controls
- support on the implementation and development of technology tax compliance solutions
- oversee tax provision positions as well as execution of tax payments
THE CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Law degree from reputable university
- Minimum 5 years of experience within a reputable law firm or Big 4 (or reputable asset manager, investment fund, or MNE firms) related to the alternative investment structuring of Asset Classes
- Strong project management, coordination and communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
