Senior Valuation Manager (M/F)
The Valuation Function interacts with the Company’s structures and encompasses all the activities related to asset pricing of Funds security and investments. It defines the rules, procedures as well as the valuation models required to price the assets included in the funds.
Within the Valuation Function the Senior Valuation Manager is involved in the activities related to the valuation process of UCITS and AIF Funds (diversified over asset classes: Real Estate, Fund of Alternative Funds, Private Debt, Private Equity and Infrastructure) and is in charge of contributing to the definition of methodologies and solutions to value the assets held by the managed Funds.
THE ROLE:
- Providing her/his independent view / insights of key risks affecting the valuation of the assets.
- Promoting sound asset valuation practices and principles, enhancing a rigorous methodological culture.
- Supporting the Company to ensure successful management of all appraisal processes on liquid assets and illiquid assets (e.g. alternative assets, defaulted assets…).
- Performing independent valuation analysis of a given company/asset issuer, encompassing all the valuation process (data gathering, business and corporate strategy assessment, valuation modelling)
- Performing or reviewing equity or debt valuations using different methodologies: market approach (e.g. multiples, industry valuation benchmarks, comparable market prices), income approach (e.g. DCF, DDM) and replacement cost approach (e.g. replacement costs).
- Review the hypothesis behind each of the valuation models and proposing – if needed – models updates
- Assist the team within the financial, legal and technical due diligence and coordinate third-party valuation advisors.
- Assist the team in fulfilling auditor requests on asset pricing topics.
- Preparation of the results of the valuation analyses in efficient and clear manner.
- Retrieve information by performing independent research to get insights from the industry and the general related market.
- Supervise and challenge periodic valuations of the Fund investments conducted by external service providers.
- Participate proactively in the build-up and periodic review of all valuation policy and procedures, ensuring compliance with the obligations laid down in the UCITS/AIFMD.
- Support and facilitate coordination with the other functions (chiefly Liquid and Alternative Fund Administration, Risk Management, Project Management, Legal)
- Process optimization – developing best practices, increasing efficiency, enhancing capabilities, and mitigating valuation risks.
- Keep updated of industry and regulatory trends in valuation modelling tools/techniques and overall the asset pricing process.
- The completion of the above tasks requires a strong cooperation with other departments and entities as well as clients.
THE CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- At least 5 years of experience in consulting / accounting / audit / banking / private equity.
- Graduate / Master’s degree in finance with an asset management / risk management focus or equivalent qualification.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, investigative and reporting skills.
- Fluent in French and English language, both written and spoken; good knowledge of Italian is considered a plus.
- Experience in dealing with local and European regulation (UCITS, AIFMD).
- Strong skills in due diligence, analysis and valuation of Private Debt.
- Capabilities in achieving comprehensive analyses of project financing and private debt assets; expertise in credit rating assessment and its modelling is a plus.
- Overall knowledge and understanding of financial assets and valuation practices, preferably acquired in investment management or consulting.
- Knowledge of quantitative and statistical models and methodologies.
- Excellent modelling skills in MS Excel as well as skills in Power Point and Word. Knowledge of Bloomberg, Capital IQ and similar data providers, as well as software programming would be a plus.
- Well-developed organizational skills, flexibility, ability to deal with different departments within the organizational framework.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to detail technical information in order to produce concise and effective presentations.
- Solution oriented.
- Ability to work in a small and highly professional environment and under pressure while maintaining high qualitative standard.
- Strong sense of integrity and ethics.
